Simon Werrett completed his PhD at Cambridge University before postdoctoral positions at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin and the Getty Research Center, Los Angeles. He is now a member of the Department of History at the University of Washington, Seattle, teaching and researching the history of early modern science. Werrett is currently preparing a monograph on the history of fireworks and natural philosophy in early modern Europe.
