Genco Gulan is an artist and a social critic with a focus on new media. He studied Political Science and Art at Bogazici University, Istanbul. Then he pursued an MA degree on Media Studies at New School University, New York. He got awards from BP in 1994, New School 2000 and EMAF 2005. His online works had been presented in the portals of Centre Pompidou, Paris; New and Whitney Museum, New York; Kanon Media, Vienna and Istanbul Contemporary Art Museum, Istanbul. His works had been presented at ZKM, Karlsruhe, Museum of Modern, Art Rio de Janerio; Mediaterra, Athens; National Gallery, Istanbul; Steirishes Herbst, Graz; Ars Electronica, Linz; Free Manifesta, Frankfurt and Digital Art Festival, Habana. He participated to Conferences such as C.B. Belgrade; ISEA 2004, Helsinki; ISIMD 2003 and ISIMD 2004 Istanbul. His name appeared in the required reading lists of University of California, Santa Barbara; Hunters College, Buffalo, New York and Rice University, Houston Texas. His articles have been published in Arredemento, Milliyet Sanat, Hurriyet Gosteri and NY Arts Magazines. Articles on him are published in Sanat Dunyamiz, Mlliyet Sanat, Art in Amerika, Vietnam Visual Arts, MeNaiset and New York Arts. Genco Gulan is currently based in Istanbul. |
