Daniel Palmer is a Lecturer in the Theory Department of the Faculty of Art & Design at Monash University. He was formerly the Curator of Projects at Centre for Contemporary Photography. His University of Melbourne doctorate, Participatory Media: Visual Culture in Real Time (2004), explored contemporary modes of individualised spectatorship within digital visual media. Palmer regularly contributes criticism and catalogue essays on various aspects of Australian and international art, in journals such as Art & Australia, Real Time, Broadsheet, Photofile and Frieze and is the author of Photogenic: Essays/Photography/CCP 2000–2004 (2005). |
