Serviced by 23 international airlines, Melbourne Airport is 22 kilometers from the city and a 25 minute drive. Taxis and shuttle bus services are available from all arrival terminals.
The airport has baggage lockers, 24hr foreign exchange counters, restaurants, bars, a children’s playground, information desks, major car rental companies, ample parking for private vehicles and, for departing travellers, a refund booth to reclaim the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on some goods.

AIRPORT TO CITY

Skybus travels Melbourne Airport to City (Southern Cross Station) 24 hours, 7 days a week with one departing every 10-15 minutes. Tickets are $16 one-way / $26 return (as at April 2008) - this is around one-third the cost of a taxi fare. On arrival at the city depot they provide free transfer to your city accommodation. No need to queue as tickets may be purchased online or kerbside.

VISA INFORMATION

With the exception of New Zealand citizens, all foreign nationals must obtain a visa/ETA and have a current passport before traveling to Australia.
Visas are available online or from Australian visa offices (including Australian embassies, high commissions and consulates).

ETA’s
Equivalent to a visa ETA's can be submitted online or through travel agents or airlines. When you arrive at an airport for check-in, the airline check-in staff can electronically confirm that you have authority to board the flight to Australia.

Non-ETA eligible passport holders will need to apply for a Business (Short Stay) Visa, which for a short business visit to Australia for up to three months.

Customs
Prior to landing on Australian soil, you will need to complete incoming passenger information, customs and quarantine forms.

Australia has particularly strict quarantine laws – you must declare all goods of animal or plant origin, and you’re not allowed to bring fresh fruit or vegetables into the country.
