David Tomas
is an artist and writer whose multimedia and photographic works explore
the cultures and transcultures of imaging systems. He has exhibited in Canada,
the United States and Europe. He has held visiting research and fellowship
positions at the California Institute of the Arts, Goldsmiths College, University
of London, and National Gallery of Art, Ottawa. Tomas is the author of five books: Transcultural Space and Transcultural Beings, an Internet book entitled "The Encoded Eye, the Archive, and its Engine House", an experimental book (co-authored with Michèle Thériault) entitled "DUCTION, A Blinding Flash of Light: Photography Between Disciplines and Media" (Editions Dazibao: Montreal), and "Beyond the Image Machine: A History of Visual Technologies" (Continuum, London). |
