Karin Bruns is a media theorist and professor of media theory at the University of Fine Arts and Industrial Design in Linz (Austria). She has studied literature and social psychology at Ruhr-Universität Bochum in Germany and did her PhD research in the field of cinematography and silent movies. She has been a lecturer, curator of film festivals and guest professor in Germany, Great Britain and Latin America. Her main research areas are media history and new technology, video art and game cultures. Currently she is also head of the Media Department at the University of Fine Arts and Industrial Design.
